July 20, 2015

Last week I was a part of something special.  My friend asked me to come take pictures of her family.  Her father-in-law has cancer and we don't know how long his days on this earth remain.

I was completely blessed by this time.  What an amazing family!  This man has a legacy that people can only hope for.  The love and affection was so evident when grandpa entered the scene.  People rushing to get pillows to make him more comfy and everyone excited to get a picture with him.  I have shed many tears as I edit.  How precious these picture are and will be to come.

Gloria (young looking grandma) asked if I would like to see her memorial garden for her mother.  (By the way her gardens are magnificent)  Right before I came to the photo shoot I had dropped my mom's clothes off to have them made into quilts and teddy bears.  I cried most of the way there.

As Gloria shared with me about her mother my heart became full.  I had only met her minutes before but we have a bond beyond this earth.  Our Jesus!  We shared how Jesus has to be our only one.  He is the only thing we can take with us.  Everything else on earth is passing away.  We hugged and cried together.  As I left, I believe God put it on my heart to make a slide show for her.  The song really says it all~  "In Christ Alone"

Hope you enjoy Arends family.  My thoughts and prayers are with you.  What an amazing testimony you are to others and may more people follow Jesus through your journey to our eternal home.

I don't think I have cried more at a ceremony in a long time.  I have seen the ugly and familiar side of grief that this couple has had on their journey.  I use to think when you remarry after the death of your spouse, you replace them.

I have learned that you could never replace that person. That person will always hold a very special part in your life and has helped shape the person you are today.  Life does continue and you just simply have to choose to keep living. This wedding was a wonderful testimony to the past, present, and future.

How amazing that God brought this couple into my life for this season in my life.  I consider them dear friends and plan to keep in touch.  Congratulations Roger and Betty! Live like there is no tomorrow!:)

God brings certain people into your life for reason.  I believe God brought this sweet couple into my mine for just this season.  When Betty called to ask about pictures, we ended up talking for an hour.

I had such a great time capturing them and can't wait for their wedding in June!  How fun to see such happiness and it proves that you can love again.

Most of you are aware that I lost my mom four weeks ago.  Whenever I had a photo shoot she would call me and say, "Praying for award winning photos."  It always calmed my nerves and gave me confidence.  I had my first photo shoot without her last week.  It was so hard not to hear her encouraging words.  I know her prayers are still with me.  I will miss her.  She believed in me like only a mother can.  She was the best cheerleader.  I am so blessed that I got to call her mom!

What a great thing that I got to celebrate new life with this sweet little guy.

Excited to have my first shoot of the year!  Of course, we had to have a snowstorm a couple days before our appointment.  My pregnant mama was game, so we went ahead with our pictures.  We did a little bit of shivering but I was happy with the results!

I even got to see Emerson's smile!:)
